Super Bowl Sunday!

I made it though a long weekend of training!  I'm finally settled in on the couch, ready to watch the Super Bowl and enjoy some munchies!

Saturday's Training:  2 1/2 hour run (14 miles)
Sunday's Training:  4 hours/73 miles on the bike followed by a 60 minute swim out at Blue Lake!  In total I did about 90 miles of training!  My nutrition was spot on, fueled myself perfectly for all training.  So glad I got it done!
There was a guy out there spearfishing for tilapia.  He was funny. He was in a full wetsuit with head coverage but had this huge bushy white beard sticking out.  He looked like Santa in flippers! Ha!

Now, time for the Super Bowl!  Go Seahawks!  To be honest, I'm more interested in the commercials. Hope there are some good ones!

Thursday!

Today's Training:
1:00/20 miles on a Ruby
:30 mins/3 mile run
:15 min core

Great training session today! I think I am about back to 100%, which is perfect since I have a big volume weekend coming up. 4 hours in the bike Sunday--yowza, that's going to be rough! But after the bike snd swim I can hit the couch and enjoy the Super Bowl and all the great commercials! That's what I'll be looking forward to!

Time Got Away!

Oops!  I sure let the blog go the last few days...Ok, about a week!  I started feeling pretty crappy last Thursday and I'm just now getting back to myself.  My training has gone OK, but did take some rest days in between trying to push through some workouts which I shouldn't have.  Listen to the body is rule #1!  This is easy advice for me to give, but hard to take myself!

14 weeks to go, the weeks are ticking by!  Hard to believe that by the time I complete this race school will be close to getting out as well. It will be sunny and warm...aaaah!  I can't wait. I can't wait to run outside in the mornings again, get Ruby out on the weekends. I don't mind the trainer, but riding outside is so much better.

Took the 8th graders to a college campus visit today. I really hope it sparked an interest in some kids.  College/Internships/Universities are all out there waiting for them.  They have to seek it, they have to want it.
Back to logging my training tomorrow!

Monday!

Catch up day!

Sunday: 3.5 hours/62 miles on the trainer--whewwww! That was a lot if cycling. It's funny though, the time actually went pretty fast. I watched an episode of The Millionaire Matchmaker (love it), the last two episodes of the entire Dexter series (loved the whole series--hated the finale. It sucked.) and a Dr. Phil. I was pretty entertained the whole time!

Today is my off day so I pretty much did zero. Felt really lazy and off my game. Glad to get back to my routine tomorrow!

Saturday + Triathlon = Fun!!!

Syd and I had an absolute blast today! She did so well at all three events! First was the swim. We picked lanes right next to each other. There were volunteers to count our laps. We swam for a timed 15 minutes-I got 27 laps and Syd got 26--she did great! Then we had 10 mins to change and jump on the spin bikes. We rode for 25 minutes, the bike had odometers. I rode 11.3 miles and Syd got 10.2--again, excellent for her!
Next we had 5 minutes to walk to the Olympic Oval. We had a 20 min run to get in as many laps as possible. We ran together so we would finish together. I think we got 7.5. It was a great day! I am so thankful my kids like to do things with me!  In fact, Livvy started my day out perfectly this morning. Before Syd and I left Livvy was making toast. Out of the blue she turned to me and said "Mom, did you know that my happiest memories are with you?" That was one of the sweetest things I've ever been told!

Well, tomorrow I have a tough session in the bike-3.5 hours! Whewwww! Wish me luck!

Catching Up!

I am behind in my blog updates!  I'll do a quickie version of the days I missed. Actually, all my posts are pretty quick!

Monday:  OFF, which was good because I set my alarm wrong and overslept!

Tuesday:  1:15/23 miles on Ruby + strength training

Wednesday:  Brick workout.  60 minutes on Ruby followed immediately by a 45 minute run

Today:  60 minute run + strength training.

I'm feeling the start of a cold so I've been taking Zicam and popping vitamin C like crazy.  Syd and I are doing an indoor triathlon on Saturday and we're both starting to feel kind of crappy--no bueno!  Hopefully we'll both skate through this.  I'm a little worried about Syd though as she has a tough basketball game tomorrow night. That's going to be hard on her.

Training overall is going well!  I'm happy with my progress working with my heart rate zone.  My resting heart rate is 52.  The average for someone my age is around 75.  I'm actually in the athlete zone which is the best resting heart rate to have.  Yay me!

Sunday Funday

Today's Training:
7am: 3 hours/ 57 miles on the trainer! It was a really good session however! The last half hour I really pushed hard, felt great. Unfortunately I had to cancel my swim as the winds were just too much. I was bummed.

I'm beginning to wonder if anyone is following my blog? It's not very exciting I guess! But, I'll keep it going because I said I would!

Saturday!

Today's Training:
9:00am: 11.5 mile run

Run felt awesome! Kept my heart rate in zone 2 95% of the run. I did lots of hill climbing. Tripped again and cut up my right hand and landed on my knee but thankfully the knee is just fine.

Tomorrow is another 3 hour trainer session...uuuugh! I can doooo it!

Finally Friday!

Today's Training:
4:15am: 45 minute run
5:00am: 60 min strength training

Nice session today! I am hoping for nice temperatures early tomorrow so I can run outside. I don't think I can do another two hour run on the treadmill--it's so boring! Please no wind!!!

Random pic: over break Liv decided to be a ninja and stalked me all day. I didn't know she was following me around until the end if the day!

5:15am: 60 mins strength training

The training week has started! Yaaay!
Today I'm going g to create a list of events that I have coming up and post those in my classroom too. It gives me motivation when I see the events I hs I g coming up!

Ok, let's see if I have this figured out--I'm going to post some pics of my workout room so people can see my little slice of heaven!

Close up of Ruby! What a beauty!

Monday Morning

Today's Training:
Off day today!  Still got up at 3:45am--need to get back on that wake up schedule.  I think I have figured out why I haven't been able to post pics.  I need to use the actual blogger app--I've been coming to my log through the web.  If I use the app I can access all my pics.  I'll play around with that later today if I remember!

I am ready to get back to a daily schedule and logging my nutrition on myfitnesspal.  I have a committment with one of my best friends to log consistently for the next 6 weeks.  I'm changing up my breakfast, tired of eggs and want to move to more 'plant powered' nutrition.  I've been making a green smoothy: 1 scoop whey protein powder/ice/water/frozen blueberries/frozen raspberries/1/2 banana and two cups spinach leaves!  It's delicious!!!

Sunday Funday

Today's Training:
6:30am:  3 hours on Ruby/52 miles...uuuuuuuugh!  Watched a movie (We Are the Millers--pretty funny!) and one episode of Dexter.  The last hour I pretty much had my head down just pushing through the workout--it got pretty tough toward the end.
In about 30 mins we're heading out to Blue Lake to swim--I hope no one is out there today.

Back to school tomorrow!  I'm excited to get back on a regular schedule--but the break was excellent.  It felt long and relaxing (except for all the training!).  January should fly by, I don't know--it feels like the rest of the year will fly.

Saturday!

Today's Training:
9:30am--2 hour run

Woke up to the wind howling--I hate running in the wind more than anything--even running on the treadmill. 90 mins is tough on the treadmill and today I had 120! It was hard but I managed it. I did a bunch of incline repeats in the middle miles and also kept my heart rate up in the upper zone 2 for the last 90 minutes. The last 30 mins were the worst, wanted  to jump off so many times but I talked myself through it.

Syd started varsity today! I'm going to see if my picture app works now that I've reloaded a bunch of stuff on my phone! Guess not, I need to figure this out.

Fantastic Friday!

Today's Training:
7:30am:  45 minute run
8:30am:  60 minute strength

Easy day today!

I need to come up with my next challenge for January!  I have a few ideas but I need to really think through that and get it set up!  I hope both students and teachers will take part again.  I thought it was great to see people coming in daily to mark off their workouts.  I only have a few days to figure it out!!!

Thursday up and at 'em!

Today's Training:
 6:30am:  1:15/22 miles on Ruby
 7:45am:  40 minute run/4 miles
 8:30am:  60 minute strength training

Great early workout this morning!  My legs were tired as I expected but felt a heck of a lot better than I thought.  Thanks goodness tomorrow is pretty light because Saturday and Sunday are big volume days.

Syd and I are going to do an indoor triathlon on Jan. 18--I'm so excited!  It's a very different type of tri--we swim for 15 minutes/10 min transition to dry off/cycle for 25 minutes on a spin bike/10 min transition to walk to the Olympic Oval/run as many laps as possible in 20 minutes.  It's going to be fun!  We'll finish the day with some shopping of course!!!

Going to take the doggies out for a walk--need to keep my legs loose--they are pretty sore from the new strength training routine!

A New Year!!!! Rabbit Rabbit!

Today's Training:
12:00pm:  1:20/7.5 mile run
2:00pm:  1:15/22 miles on Ruby

I admit it..I slept in!  Didn't get out of bed until 11am!  I was up until 12:05am--Yes!  I stayed up to ring in New Year's!  Wasn't partying or anything--I was actually building a lego pirate's ship with Livvy!

The run today was excellent, I included many, many hill repeats--running some tough stretches twice.  Felt good.  The spin on Ruby was good, too.  Tomorrow my legs might be a bit tired--I'll do a 'brick' workout--bike first and immediately run--just like in a triathlon.

Started off 2014 the best way!
