I made it though a long weekend of training! I'm finally settled in on the couch, ready to watch the Super Bowl and enjoy some munchies!
Saturday's Training: 2 1/2 hour run (14 miles)
Sunday's Training: 4 hours/73 miles on the bike followed by a 60 minute swim out at Blue Lake! In total I did about 90 miles of training! My nutrition was spot on, fueled myself perfectly for all training. So glad I got it done!
There was a guy out there spearfishing for tilapia. He was funny. He was in a full wetsuit with head coverage but had this huge bushy white beard sticking out. He looked like Santa in flippers! Ha!
Now, time for the Super Bowl! Go Seahawks! To be honest, I'm more interested in the commercials. Hope there are some good ones!
Ironman St. George 70.3
I have invited friends, family and students along on my journey to IM St. George 70.3 on May 3, 2014! The next 20 weeks will be filled with highs and lows, training and suffering, and hopefully a few laughs along the way. Most of all, I want to embody the discipline and will it takes to both train for and complete an endurance event!

Thursday!
Today's Training:
1:00/20 miles on a Ruby
:30 mins/3 mile run
:15 min core
Great training session today! I think I am about back to 100%, which is perfect since I have a big volume weekend coming up. 4 hours in the bike Sunday--yowza, that's going to be rough! But after the bike snd swim I can hit the couch and enjoy the Super Bowl and all the great commercials! That's what I'll be looking forward to!

Time Got Away!
Oops! I sure let the blog go the last few days...Ok, about a week! I started feeling pretty crappy last Thursday and I'm just now getting back to myself. My training has gone OK, but did take some rest days in between trying to push through some workouts which I shouldn't have. Listen to the body is rule #1! This is easy advice for me to give, but hard to take myself!
14 weeks to go, the weeks are ticking by! Hard to believe that by the time I complete this race school will be close to getting out as well. It will be sunny and warm...aaaah! I can't wait. I can't wait to run outside in the mornings again, get Ruby out on the weekends. I don't mind the trainer, but riding outside is so much better.
Took the 8th graders to a college campus visit today. I really hope it sparked an interest in some kids. College/Internships/Universities are all out there waiting for them. They have to seek it, they have to want it.
Back to logging my training tomorrow!

Monday!
Catch up day!
Sunday: 3.5 hours/62 miles on the trainer--whewwww! That was a lot if cycling. It's funny though, the time actually went pretty fast. I watched an episode of The Millionaire Matchmaker (love it), the last two episodes of the entire Dexter series (loved the whole series--hated the finale. It sucked.) and a Dr. Phil. I was pretty entertained the whole time!
Today is my off day so I pretty much did zero. Felt really lazy and off my game. Glad to get back to my routine tomorrow!

Saturday + Triathlon = Fun!!!
Syd and I had an absolute blast today! She did so well at all three events! First was the swim. We picked lanes right next to each other. There were volunteers to count our laps. We swam for a timed 15 minutes-I got 27 laps and Syd got 26--she did great! Then we had 10 mins to change and jump on the spin bikes. We rode for 25 minutes, the bike had odometers. I rode 11.3 miles and Syd got 10.2--again, excellent for her!
Next we had 5 minutes to walk to the Olympic Oval. We had a 20 min run to get in as many laps as possible. We ran together so we would finish together. I think we got 7.5. It was a great day! I am so thankful my kids like to do things with me! In fact, Livvy started my day out perfectly this morning. Before Syd and I left Livvy was making toast. Out of the blue she turned to me and said "Mom, did you know that my happiest memories are with you?" That was one of the sweetest things I've ever been told!
Well, tomorrow I have a tough session in the bike-3.5 hours! Whewwww! Wish me luck!

Catching Up!
I am behind in my blog updates! I'll do a quickie version of the days I missed. Actually, all my posts are pretty quick!
Monday: OFF, which was good because I set my alarm wrong and overslept!
Tuesday: 1:15/23 miles on Ruby + strength training
Wednesday: Brick workout. 60 minutes on Ruby followed immediately by a 45 minute run
Today: 60 minute run + strength training.
I'm feeling the start of a cold so I've been taking Zicam and popping vitamin C like crazy. Syd and I are doing an indoor triathlon on Saturday and we're both starting to feel kind of crappy--no bueno! Hopefully we'll both skate through this. I'm a little worried about Syd though as she has a tough basketball game tomorrow night. That's going to be hard on her.
Training overall is going well! I'm happy with my progress working with my heart rate zone. My resting heart rate is 52. The average for someone my age is around 75. I'm actually in the athlete zone which is the best resting heart rate to have. Yay me!
